Then, Michelson, a physician, attempted to measure the speed of absolute rotation of the earth in comparison with the ether, of course with high accuracy and by using the light speed. But he found that the measured light speed was fixed in all directions and the earth appeared to be fixed and without any movement, while its movement and rotation was obvious.
