If this constant ratio is then termed as the ‚relative inertial mass of the two balls‘, then the whole idea of the inertial frame and inertial mass is arrived at without any reference whatsoever to ‚distant galaxies‘. More significantly, this approach brings into the foreground t h e crucial point about Mach’s Principle: which is that it is impossible to define inertial frames in the absence of material. It is this point which invalidates all those interpretations of Mach’s Principle which follow the pattern of §1.2. By the same token, this author considers General Relativity, which allows an internally consistent discussion of empty ‚inertial spacetime‘ – that of special relativity – to be similarly invalidated."

Kritisiert das Konzept einer Eigenzeit für jedes Partikel in der ART (the notion of particle proper time) als Zirkelschluß (S. 184): "the notion of particle proper time involves the prior definition of a system of observers‘ clocks – so that some notion of clock-time is factored into the prior assumptions upon wich the theory of relativity is built."

The elapsing of time is given a direct physical interpretation in terms of the process of displacement in the model universe."

By David F.
