I am an Italian physicist who, back in 1967, decided to follow the footsteps of Enrico Fermi, and left Italy to place his best energies and capabilities at the service of America.<\/p>\n

At the time of this decision, I was unaware of the fact that scientific ethics in the U. S. physics community had declined since Fermi’s time. Following my arrival here, I have observed and experienced a further deterioration of scientific ethics. A series of more recent episodes has created my conviction that it is time for the U. S. society to confront and contain the problem of scientific ethics in physics. In fact, the lack of vigilance on ethical issues may well constitute a threat to ‚our free societies.<\/p>\n

In this book, I present my case to the best of my recollection and documentation. In Chapter 1, I present the background scientific issues in a way as understandable to the general audience as possible. In Chapter 2, I review my personal experiences with primary U. S. Universities, Federal Laboratories, Journals of the American Physical Society, and Governmental Agencies. Finally, in Chapter 3, I pass to the constructive part, the submission of a number of recommendations aimed at containing ethical problems in physics.<\/p>\n

Santilli ist als ausgebildeter Physiker 1967 von Italien in die USA eingewandert; er beschreibt seine Erfahrungen im dortigen Physik-Establishment.<\/p>\n

– Kap. 1: H\u00e4lt Einsteins Spezielle Relativit\u00e4tstheorie nur innerhalb bestimmter Bedingungen f\u00fcr exakt g\u00fcltig (S. 5). H\u00e4lt Einsteins Allgemeine Relativit\u00e4tstheorie f\u00fcr falsch (S. 6). Fordert eine theoretische und experimentelle Untersuchung der Frage, ob und wie weit die Spezielle Relativit\u00e4tstheorie au\u00dferhalb der genannten Bedingungen g\u00fcltig ist. Die in dieser Forderung enthaltene Kritik der Spezielle Relativit\u00e4tstheorie und die fundamentale Ablehnung der Allgemeine Relativit\u00e4tstheorie sind von dem amerikanischen Physik-Establishment unnachsichtig mit Entzug von Anstellung, Forschungsmitteln und Publikationsm\u00f6glichkeiten bestraft worden.<\/p>\n

Santilli formuliert deshalb seinen \u201e Grande grido\u201c (Gro\u00dfen Schrei) nach Gerechtigkeit und einer Ethik der Wissenschaft: \u201eIt is the duty of every person to honor the memory of Albert Einstein as one of the single greatest contributors to human knowledge. But the lifting of Einstein\u2019s ideas to the level of religious dogma, to be preserved indefinitely via the organized suppression of possible fundamental advances, would be a crime against humanity<\/em>\u201c (S. 181).<\/p>\n

– Kap. 2: Santilli schildert seine Erfahrungen in Harvard 1977-80 (S. 182-207), am Mass. Inst.of Technology (MIT) (S. 207-230), mit den U. S. National Laboratories (S. 231-244), mit den Zeitschriften der American Physical Society (S. 244-273) u.a.<\/p>\n

– Begr\u00fcndet die Notwendigkeit, dieses Buch zu schreiben, mit den von Harvard ausgehenden Verfolgungsma\u00dfnahmen bis nach Europa. Als Reaktion auf seine Ausgrenzung durch das Physik-Establishment von Harvard gr\u00fcndet Santilli 1977 die Zeitschrift Hadronic journal\u201c (erscheint ab 1978), Santillis Summe besteht im Vorwurf der Verschw\u00f6rung.<\/p>\n

Santillis Buch ist ein Akt der Verzweiflung wie das 1972 erschienene Buch Herbert Dingles: Science at the crossroads. Wenn man die Linie solcher eindringlichen Appelle weiter zur\u00fcckverfolgen will, so w\u00e4ren zu nennen:<\/p>\n
